Keeping employees healthy and happy

Litton PRC has come up with an easy way to reduce associate absences during flu season. The Virginia-based defense contractor provides employees with on-site flu shots as part of an annual employee health fair.

Litton’s other “unusual” employee benefits include an on-site convenience store and outdoor exercise facility, quarterly sessions with financial advisers and a pet-care savings program.

In Manhattan, realizing how stressful taking care of important personal errands is for many hard working employees, Ernst & Young and Dialogic Corporation are offering concierge services to employees.

Like guests at a luxury hotel, workers call the conceirge and have him handle important but time consuming tasks. So far, these have included mediating billing disputes, picking up last-minute anniversary presents and organizing a child’s surprise party.

At Merck & Company’s New Jersey headquarters, the company encourages its employees to stop by the cafeteria and pick up a rotisserie chicken dinner or pizza to go before they head home Friday nights.
